"I would like to grant open access to the details and emotions of daily life.
And give the audience space for their fantasy."
Vera Kayh is currently studying film directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
In 2023, she spent a year at UCINE and FUC in Buenos Aires, supported by a Baden-Württemberg scholarship. During her time in Argentina, she directed the short film Chispa, which premiered at the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival and is part of the AG Kurzfilm catalogue 2025. In 2025, she also completed the short film Once in a Blue Moon as co-director alongside Frederik Bösing; the film premiered at the 22nd Neisse Film Festival.
Before that, she worked as a stage actress at Theater Krefeld and Mönchengladbach for three years. During this time, she had the opportunity and great pleasure to collaborate with many talented and renowned directors, including Dedi Baron, Rafat Alzakout, and Ulrich Cyran. One particularly meaningful experience for her was a 2019 educational research trip to Shingal (South Kurdistan, Iraq), which involved rehearsals and performances of the play Jin Jiyan.
In 2020, Vera was awarded the Joachim Fontheim Prize for the Promotion of Young Artists. While working at the city theater in Krefeld, she also began exploring the local independent cultural scene, creating her own short films such as Majnun, we all live in, Fortune Cookies, and a music video for Meermenschen.
In 2017, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Acting from the HMDK Stuttgart, where she also debuted with the monodrama Anne Frank – The Diary of a Young Girl at the Bad Vilbel Festival. Early in her career, she became acquainted with the Filmakademie through acting in several short films and participating in screen acting workshops.
Between high school and university, she worked as an assistant director at Schauspielbühnen Stuttgart, Theaterhaus Stuttgart e.V., and ADK Ludwigsburg.
Vera Kayh was born in Tübingen.
